CHESTER - Shirley M. Day, 77, wife of the late Ralph Day, died April 10, 2014, at her home. She was born December 24, 1936, in Baileyville, the daughter of Edward and Dorothy (Graham) Hanson.
Shirley was a dedicated mother, who always put her family first. She was a lover of animals, both wild and domestic. As a child, she even had a pet fawn. She was an excellent cook and taught her daughters how to cook as well. She and her husband, Ralph, moved to the Lincoln area in 1998 to enjoy their retirement in the country. She looked forward to visits with her grandchildren and seeing her daughter's camper pull into the driveway every summer. She loved and was very grateful that her grandson, Jason, moved in to take care of her after her husband died.
She is survived by four daughters, Darlene Colcord, of Cannon City, Col., Sharon Mosley and Thomas of Windham, Tammy Ryder and Lawrence of Buxton and Robin Day of Westbrook; a brother, Douglas Hanson of Alaska; eight grandchildren, Anthony Fishencord, Meghan Wood, Kyle Fishencord, Andrew Mosley, Sarah Hanf, Jason Ryder, Emily Ryder and Todd Ryder; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Hanson; and her husband, Ralph Day.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. To sign an online guest register and to leave written condolences, please visit www.clayfuneralhome.com.
