Sherbie's Story

LINCOLN - Sherbie Bernice Mayhew, of Old Town, passed away on Friday November 21, 2014. The daughter of Frank and Florence (Mottram) Mayhew, she was born in Old Town on July 30, 1919.

She graduated from Old Town High in 1937, and New England Deaconess Hospital, in Boston in 1941. She was employed at Lahey Clinic, Boston for 39 years retiring in 1981.

She was predeceased by her parents, two sisters, Mabel (Mayhew) Couper and Pauline Mayhew, a brother Walter Mayhew and a nephew Frank Couper. She is survived by a sister-in-law Joyce (Brooks) Mayhew, two nieces Ruth Ann (Mayhew) Morrow of Millinocket, and Barbara (Couper) O'Connell of Buxton; one nephew John Mayhew of Hampstead NH., eight great nieces and nephews, and many great great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Saturday November 29, 2014 at 10 AM at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Interment will follow at Lawndale Cemetery, Stillwater Ave., Orono. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sherbie's memory to First Congregational Church, PO Box 387, Milford, ME 04461.
