Seth's Story

MILFORD - Seth B. Libby Sr., 88, died peacefully June 30, 2015, from complication from a fall in November, at a Bangor hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 14, 1927, in Milford a son of Dr. Lewis S. and Aileene (Hobart) Libby.

Seth was a very talented diesel and hydraulic mechanic, and had a long and noted career, including working at Bangor Hydro, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club, St. Regis Stud Mill and the City of Bangor. He proudly served his community as member of the Milford Fire Dept. and Milford School Board, he was a 61 year member of the Star in the East Lodge #60, Anah Temple Shrine, where he was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp, and later served as an ambassador for the Anah Temple Shrine, Tri County Shrine and Northern Penobscot Shrine. The last few years, Seth has really enjoyed volunteering at the Anah Temple Shrine Circus.

Seth was an avid outdoorsman in Northern and Central Maine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and special times at Myra and Eagle Lake camps with family. He had an amazing love for family and always kept the family close. His passion later in life, was restoring antique cars. He will also be remembered for his uncanny ability to fix anything for anyone, people could always count on Seth.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Mary (Scott) Libby; three sons, Seth Libby and his wife, Nelly, of Eddington, Scott Libby and his significant other, Coleen, of Milford and Douglas Libby and his wife, Laurie, of Milford; four daughters, Linda Northrop and her husband, Phillip, of NY, Barbara Ouellette and her husband, Richard, of Milford, Rosemary Libby of Milford and Elizabeth Sherman and her husband, Glenwood, of Greenbush; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; grandson, Brent Northrop; granddaughter, Kayla Libby; and siblings, Simpson, Marion, Hobart and Roger.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468, where a Masonic Chapel service will be conducted at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
