Samual's Story

WHITING - Samual Donovan Stevens, 23, son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and soon-to-be father, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 26, 2016. He was born on July 5, 1992.

Sam attended Washington Academy, where he made many friends from across the world. He contributed to two State championships for both basketball and soccer. Sam has spent the last few years working as a commercial fisherman. Sam suffered from addiction and lost that battle. His family would like to spread awareness of the severity of this disease, but wishes for Sam to be remembered for his warm, friendly, infectious smile and outgoing personality. Sam was charismatic, funny and would light up a room. He was a hard worker, good friend, relative and natural athlete. He loved to play sports, live on the lake and be outdoors. He will be missed by so many.

Sam is survived by his father and stepmother, Jeff and Wanda Stevens; brother and best friend, Cale Stevens; his brother, Jeffrey Stevens; his sister and brother-in-law, Danielle and Sean Caricofe; his nieces, Alayna and Jade; his nephews, Jack and Max; and two stepbrothers Eric and Jackson Aldrich. Sam and Kristin Seeley are expecting their first child, Lucca, on April 12, who he loved and adored already. Sam is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Sam was predeceased by his beloved mother, Judy Barker Stevens; his maternal grandmother, Gertrude Barker; uncle, Dennis Barker; cousin Joshua Barker; and paternal grandparents, Daniel and Mary Stevens.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Machias Christian Fellowship Church 3 Davis Lane, followed by a gathering to celebrate Sam's life, for friends and immediate family, at Jeff and Wanda's home, 400 Gardner Lake Road, Whiting. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Lucca's College Fund at Machias Savings Bank, P.O. Box 318, Machias, ME 04654; Attn: Danielle Caricofe.
