Sally's Story

NEWPORT - Sally Cianchette Dwinell, 82, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at her home surrounded by family. She was born July 20, 1933, in Pittsfield, a daughter of Joseph Ralph Cianchette Sr. and Estelle (Susi) Cianchette. Sally graduated from MCI in 1951 and completed nurse's training at New England Deaconess Hospital in 1955. She enjoyed a long, fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse until her retirement in 1994. Sally married Kevin G. Dwinell on May 4, 1956, and together they raised four nearly perfect daughters.

Sally's outgoing personality and caring nature made her a favorite sister, aunt, cousin, and neighbor, and she made life-long friends wherever she went. Sally and Kevin spent many years traveling to Arizona and Florida during the early years of their retirement, but she always looked forward to coming "home to Maine". She enjoyed being in her log house on the lake, where she was always happiest entertaining family and friends.

Her door was always open and the coffee pot was always on.

Sally is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kevin Dwinell; her daughters Maxine "Muffy" and husband Maurice "Moe" Pare, Margaret "Midge" Gamboa and Kelly Pressey.  She will be missed by three of the nicest, best-looking grandchildren whom she loved and adored, all of whom she maintained had the most beautiful personalities: Andrew Gamboa and wife Marjie, Allyson Pressey and Kevin Pressey; as well as three great-grandchildren who could do no wrong: Jayla and Jaxson Jandreau and Nahla Gamboa. Sally is also survived by her brother Joseph R. Cianchette, Jr. and his wife Greta, sister-in-law Theresa Cianchette and brother-in-law Richard House, as well as many dear nieces and nephews who brought her great joy. Sally wanted everyone to know that she found much enjoyment visiting with her friends and family members over coffee or lunch, and she held you all dear to her heart.

Sally was predeceased by her parents, her brother Edward Cianchette, Sr., her sisters Carolyn "Kay" Monroe and Maxine "Mickey" House, and her daughter Mary "Missy" Dwinell.
