- Russell D. Eastman, 61, died peacefully at home after a long illness on March 25th, 2017. He was born in Benton Harbor, Michigan, on March 4th, 1956 to Richard and Ruth (Alker) Eastman.
Russell graduated from Smithtown High School in 1974 after spending his childhood in St. James, New York. He joined the Internal Revenue Service and later moved to Burlington, Vermont, as a Flight Service Specialist. He married Bonnie Fairbanks and relocated to Great Falls, Montana. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Marisa Rae.
Russell was a friend to anyone needing a kind word or helping hand. He befriended many stray animals who were fortunate to find his backyard oasis. Russell loved the outdoors and listening to birds. Additionally, he enjoyed hiking, poetry, photography, and traveling across the US to visit family.
Russell was predeceased by his father and sister, Lynn. Surviving in addition to his former wife are his mother, Ruth Beucler of East Hampton, NY; daughter, Marisa Eastman of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Richard Eastman of Ocala, FL; sister, Renita Eastman (h. John Coughlan) of East Hampton, NY; and brother Robert Beucler of S. Bound Brook, NJ.
His family would like to thank the selfless nurses, staff, and physicians of Lafayette Family Cancer Center in Brewer and Hospice of Eastern Maine; especially Janice Pilotte, Dr. Kurt Snyder, Dr. Zarah Lucas, Dr. Rodrigo Maegawa, Dr. James Van Kirk, Stacy Cote, and Paul Cote. Russell and his partner Jane Elmer were deeply touched by the love given by friends and family.
