BAR HARBOR - Roy Watson McFarland, 90, died January 14, 2016, at a Bangor hospital. He was born, January 31, 1925, in Bar Harbor, the son of Pearl Marion and Gladys May (Lunt) McFarland.
Roy graduated from Bar Harbor High School in 1943. He worked at the Jackson Laboratory, retiring after 40 years. He served in the U.S. Army as corporal, in the 276th ORD Maintenance Company from 1943-1946. Roy was a member of the Bar Harbor Masonic Lodge #185, Scottish Rites, Anah Temple Shrine, Hancock County Shrine Club and was a member of the 40 Haysiders Way Back Ball.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jacqueline (Higgins) McFarland. One daughter, Deborah M. Monastra and husband, Salvatore of N.Y., four grandchildren; Jason M. Monastra, Erik M. Monastra, Jessica M. Monastra and David M. Monastra, three great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence D. McFarland.
Friends are invited to call, 2-4PM, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., where funeral services will be held 10:00AM, Thursday, January 21, with Reverend Rob Benson officiating.
