FALMOUTH - Constance A. Rowley-Colombo, D.O., age 54, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on September 30, 2014 after a very courageous battle with cancer. She was born in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 8, 1960 to the late Reverend Stewart Kimmel Rowley and Shirley (Collins) Rowley.
Connie grew up in Springfield, Vermont and Ellsworth Maine. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1978. She attended Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Latin. Prior to her graduating from Medical School in 1988 at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, Connie was a research assistant at Jackson Laboratory in Maine and Rockefeller University in New York. Dr. Rowley was an intern at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital in Michigan before she started her Pediatric residency at Michigan State University in 1989. She finished her residency in 1992 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. She achieved the Outstanding Private Physician Teaching Award from William Beaumont Pediatric Residents in 1997. Dr. Rowley was on the pediatric staff at William Beaumont Hospital and Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce Twp., Michigan. She practiced pediatrics at three practices along with being on the staff at four other hospitals prior to her opening her own practice, Pediatric Care Corner, offering "care from the heart" in West Bloomfield, Michigan in 1998. Connie, as she preferred to be called, would explain to friends, "I was Connie well before I became Dr. Rowley". She met her soul mate Dan in 1998 and they married on July 22, 2004. Connie enjoyed visiting with her family in Maine, reading, and baking with her son Nathan.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel T. Colombo and son, Nathan D, along with her dearest sister, Carol S. (Rowley) Kloth, husband, David P. and daughter, Kristen N. of Falmouth, Maine, along with an Aunt, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on November 14, 2014 at 1p.m. at the Falmouth Congregational Church, 267 Falmouth Road, Falmouth, Maine. Interment will be in the spring 2015 at the Blanchard Cemetery in Falmouth, Maine with her parents. A sincere heartfelt thank you to the Cancer Care Associates, the Beaumont physicians, nurses, staff, Beaumont Hospice and the nursing staff from Genesis that treated Connie with total compassion and care for the past 2 years. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Connie's memory to Cancer Care Associates, 3577 W. 13 Mile Rd., Ste. 404, Royal Oak, MI 48073-6769 or to the Beaumont Children's Hospital, Pediatric Oncology - Hematology Center, same address at Ste. 101.
