BUCKSPORT, and ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Rosalie Pearl (Bridges) Doughty, 74, died in Zephyrhills, Fla., March 15, 2014. Rosalie was born Aug. 28, 1939, on Verona Island, the eldest daughter of the late Ellery S. and Iona P. (Gowen) Bridges. She was raised in Orland and graduated from Bucksport High school.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert; her three children, Robert Doughty Jr. and his wife, Erika, of Oberheid, Germany, Bonnie Caston of West Rockport, and Laurie Robertson of Bucksport. She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses, Robert Nagel of Germany, Michael and Ursula Doughty of Austria, Christopher Doughty of Germany, Jennifer and Tim Reynolds of Hope, Lisa and Adam Taylor of Warren, Stephen and Shay Grant of West Rockport, Leanne Robertson of Fairfield, and Shandi Kennedy, of Athens, Ga.; plus nine great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by sisters, Lorna M. Nason of Bucksport, Elsie Nester of Orland, and Viola Rasberry and her husband, Larry, of Landover, Md.; and many nieces, and nephews.
Rosalie was a member of Riverview Rebekah Lodge No. 49 of Bucksport where she served as Noble Grand and District Deputy President. After Riverview closed she transferred to Loyal Rebekah Lodge No. 99 of Monroe. She was a member of Riverside Chapter No. 123, Order of the Eastern Star of Orland and served as Worthy Matron. She loved to write poetry and was a member of the poetry fellowship of Maine and served as treasurer for several years.
A celebration of Rosalie's life will be held 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 30, at the Bucksport Rod and Gun Club.
