Rosaire's Story

FORT KENT - Rosaire Cyr, 90, passed away peacefully September 20, 2015 surrounded by his family at a Fort Kent Health care facility. He was born in Clair N.B. Canada, March 22, 1925, the son of Louis and Yvonne (Caouette) Cyr.

Rosaire served in 1943 in the US Navy as a gunners mate on the U.S.S. Atigony and was Honorably discharged in 1946. He owned and operated for 40 years, Cyr & Sons Auto Body in Fort Kent until his retirement in 1987 and transfered ownership to his son. He was a member of the VFW Lozier O'Grady Post 9609 and the Fort Kent Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council #0352.

Rosaire is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Annette (Pelletier) Cyr of Fort Kent. Nine children; Paul and wife Bonnie Cyr of Fort Kent. Raymond and wife Janet of Fort Kent. Louise and husband Gary Jandreau of Fort Kent, Rita and husband David Dumond of SC. , Therese and husband Tim Vernon of Presque Isle., Louis Cyr of Brewer, Daniel Cyr of Hartford, Ct. Claire Trembley and husband Dan of Old Town, and Mark Cyr of California. 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Siblings; Michelle and husband Joe Haschak, Fernande Cyr, Muriel and husband Arms Labbe, Fr. Philip Cyr, and Fr. Joel Cyr and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Rosaire was predeceased by one son, Andre Cyr in 2013. Siblings; Norman, Fernald, Yolande, Gilbert. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call Wednesday September 23, 2015 from 9 to 10:45 am at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with full Military and Fourth Degree Honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Louis Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greater Fort Kent Ecumenical Food Pantry, 229 West Main St. Suite 103, Fort Kent, ME. 04743, Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
