BROWNVILLE JCT., WINDHAM AND ZEPHYRHILLS, FL - Ronald E. Larson, 77, died August 25, 2015 after a brief illness at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. He was born December 22, 1937 in Brownville, ME, son of Hilmar and Jennie (Smith) Larson.
Ronnie was a graduate of Brownville Junction High School and retired from the B&A Railroad as a car knocker in 1998. He was an avid lover of trains and has a vast collection. He loved spending time working at the Campground in Scarborough in the summer and wintering in Zephyrhills, Florida.
He is survived by his four children, Karen Olmsted and her husband Bill of Charleston, Eric and his wife Loretta of Somerville SC, Michael and his wife Diane of Milo, Marc and his wife Kim of Windham and family friend Kenny Fickett, who stopped in for dinner and never left. His grandchildren Amanda Bessey and her husband Chris, Chelsey Larson, Jakob Larson and his wife Amber, Ryan Olmsted, Jennifer Olmsted, Rachael Larson and Reed Larson, 3 great grandchildren and many brothers and sisters. He was predeceased by his wife, Ann of 48 years, his parents, a brother, a sister, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Pine Tree Cemetery in Brownville, ME at 2:00 in the afternoon with a Memorial service to follow at the Brownville Junction American Legion, former Alumni Building. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ronnie to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Hunnewell Rd., Scarborough, ME 04074.
