- Ronald K. Bakeman, 56, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2016. He was born in Castine on August 16, 1960, the son of Lena Bakeman.
Ron graduated from Bucksport High School class of 1978, attended WCVTI, and received his degree in welding. He was a member of the Maine Plumbers and pipefitters Union 716 in Augusta. He worked as a pipefitting and welder for Nuclear Power Plants.
Ron loved boating, hiking, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and his 1962 Buick special convertible. He was known as an artist creating tin men.
He is survived by his mother Lena Bakeman of Bucksport, partner Christine West of Orland and her son Sam of Castine, one son; Michael Bakeman of Orland, step-daughter Tara Taylor of Boston, one sister; Priscilla Robinson and husband John of Orland, one aunt; Lenora Brockelbank of South Portland, two nephews; John Robinson and wife Heidi and their children Jacob and Ryan, all of Bucksport, and Scott Robinson and wife Sarah of FL, along with many cousins. He was predeceased by several Aunts and Uncles.
In lieu of flowers donations in Ron's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Castine Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Maine Maritime Academy.
