Roland's Story

CARMEL & LEVANT - Roland L. "Pete" Gatcomb 86, died Jan 27, 2015 at his Levant home following a long illness. Pete was born In Hermon Jan. 29, 1928 the son of Maynard and Carla (Brinkworth) Gatcomb. Pete died 2 days shy of his 87 birthday. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years Myra Gatcomb on March 26, 2007. He was a long time resident of Carmel where he owned and operated his own auto mechanic business known as Pete's Garage. He was a WW II Army veteran. He belonged to the Masons. He loved camping, snowmobiling and riding motorcycles.

Pete is survived by his children, his son and wife, Robert and Gerry Gatcomb of Bangor, his daughter Janie Morrissey of Levant, who he made his home with. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Teresa McPherson, Tammy Southard and her husband Mark, Jenny McPherson, BobbiLee Gatcomb, Crystal Gatcomb, and Kim D'angelo, seven great grandchildren; Aundreya Francis, Ashley McPherson, Megan Southland, Lexi McPherson, Myra Marden, Domenic D'angelo, Brook D'angelo, two great great grandchildren; Zachary and Haylee, many beloved nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Graveside services will be conducted in the spring at the family lot at Highland Cemetery Carmel. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center 34 High Street, Newport. To sign and online guest book and leave written tributes please visit:
