DEXTER - Roland T. Clukey, 97, died January 23, 2016, at Dexter Health Care. He was born in Dexter, July 17, 1918, the son of George and Effie (Goulette) Clukey.
He served an apprenticeship as a machinist in Saco, and returned to Dexter where he worked at FayScott Machine Shop for over 45 years, 30 of which as a supervisor, retiring in 1981 as a manufacturing engineer. He was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus and was a lifetime communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. Roland was a former officer of the Civil Air Patrol; past charter member of Dexter Aero Club, a member of the Dexter Sunrise Kiwanis and Dexter Club; and was also was a former Boy Scout leader.
In the summer of 2015, Roland was presented the Boston Post Gold Cane as the oldest resident of the Town of Dexter.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Giles) Clukey in 1995.
He is survived by 3 sons, Douglas Clukey of MA, Roger Clukey of Dexter and Gregory Clukey of CT; 2 daughters, Jacqueline Sharpe of AL, and Jerilyn Mullis of NC; 10 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
