Roger's Story

MADAWASKA - Roger Thibodeau, 72, died on February 22, 2015 at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born in Madawaska on July 30, 1942, son of the late Ernestine Thibodeau and Arthur H. Martin.

He was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus in Madawaska, President of the Madawaska Chamber of Commerce, President of the Acadian Festival and committee member for several years. He was also on the Madawaska School Board from 2007-2013. Roger graduated from Madawaska High School in 1961 and attended UMFK and Hartford Institute of Accounting where he graduated. After graduation, he worked for Putnum Coffin & Burr in Hartford, CT as a Financial Security Accountant (Dow Jones Trading Board) from 1962-1965. Roger worked at Fraser Papers for forty years until his retirement in 2005. He also worked part time at Zayre's for seven years.

Roger is survived by a son who he loved very much, Steven R. Thibodeau of Hyde Park, MA; his partner of many years Gaetan Godbout of Edmundston; two half-brothers, Roger Martin of Madawaska, Roderick Martin of California; a very special friend, Violet (Gerald) Michaud of Madawaska; three special aunts, Louise (Donald) Bellefleur of Edmundston, Lorraine Duff of Missouri, Artheline Thibodeau of Edmundston; two special cousins, Marie Jeanne (Hermel) Edmond, Charlotte (Jean Guy) Gabourie of Edmundston. Roger never met a stranger. His open heart and loving personality granted him many friends during the years and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 9am until 9:45am on Thursday.
