BUCKSPORT - Roger O. Powers, 83, of Bucksport, passed away peacefully September 15, 2014 with his family surrounding him. He was born February 3, 1931 to Otis & Edith (Seavey) Powers.
Roger served in the United States Air Force, and then moved on to a career at St. Regis Paper Company in 1954, retiring from International Paper 39 years later in 1993 as a Maintenance Superintendent. He was a Mason and belonged to the Bucksport Masonic Lodge. He had many passions, which included woodworking, hunting, landscaping, carving and stained glass. There was not one spot in his home that did not have something hand made by him, with such love and pride. He was a very private man, but loved people, and to watch people. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Marietta J. Fanjoy, and very proudly and lovingly was married and devoted to her for 63 years and raised 4 children very patiently and was the best Father they could have ever asked for. His children always believed he was their Mother's "Earth Angel", which made him very happy. Papa always made his grandchildren feel loved and comforted.
He is survived by Marietta, his son, Ashley Powers and his mate, Wendy, daughter, Pamela Chaisson, daughter, Heather Hersey, and son, Jeremy Powers and his wife, Sue; his grandchildren, Amanda Smith and husband, Wyatt, Ashlee Gaudreau and husband, Chris, Matthew Corcoran and wife, Melanie, John Chaisson and his wife, Natalie, Stephanie Chaisson and her mate, Nathan, Brandy Goss and her husband, Jon, April Ashmore, Scott Powers, Brandon Upton and wife, Courtney, Justin Upton and his wife, Keri and his sister, Dawn Moylan of Portsmouth, NH. He was predeceased by three brothers; Fred Powers, Mike Powers, and Frank Coombs, and one sister, Phyllis McIntosh.
A private funeral service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Bucksport with Pastor Peter Remick officiating.
