Roger's Story

Hartland - Roger E. Kniffin, 66, went to be with the Lord Oct. 1, 2016, at his home in Hartland. He was born in Hartland Nov. 8, 1949, the son of Chester H. and Eleanor (Allen) Kniffin. Roger was educated in Hartland schools and graduated from Hartland Academy in the class of 1968. He worked in area shoe shops before working at the Hartland Tannery for 30 years.
Roger loved fishing, hunting and playing golf. He loved NASCAR, playing cribbage, and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. He enjoyed listening to his favorite gospel group "Kindred Hearts" and spending time with family and friends. Roger was a hard worker with a big heart and recently celebrated his 26 year of Sobriety.
He was predeceased by his mother Eleanor Woodbury and his father Chester Kniffin.
Roger is survived by his step-father Jack Woodbury of Hartland, two brothers, Wayne Kniffin and Richard Kniffin, two step-sisters Amy Dillon and family, Diane Briggs and family, two step-brothers, Brian Woodbury and family, Jim Woodbury, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will also be remembered by special friends Mickie and Marie Hartsgrove, and David O'Donnel. The family would like to thank Dr. Emily Cianchette, and Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Roger.
Friends and family may attend a time of visitation from 12 to 1 p.m. Thursday Oct 6, 2016, at the Jubilee Family Worship Center in Newport with a memorial service immediately following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brian Woodbury officiating. Graveside committal services will be at the Maloon Cemetery in St. Albans following the service.
