Roger's Story

ETNA AND PITTSFIELD - Roger Brian Eastman, 71, died unexpectedly June 30, 2015, at his residence. He was born March 3, 1944, in Troy, a son of Bernard and June (Smith) Eastman.

He graduated from Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, Class of 1963, and graduated from the University of Maine at Fort Kent, Class of 1967. He taught school for a year before being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. After returning home he became clerk of the works for H. E. Sargent Construction Company. He also operated the asphalt plant before retirement.

Roger is survived by two sisters, Sally Grignon of Athens and Linda Eastman and husband, Phil, of San Francisco, CA; his best friend, Merle Williams of Plymouth; three nephews, John Paul Grignon, Doug Ames and Bruce Ames; two nieces, Debbie Breton and Tricia Kirk; several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Clayton Ames; and a niece, Carmen Kirk.

Private graveside services will be held at the Hunt Memorial Cemetery in Liberty. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Memorial donations may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, ME 04401. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com.
