Roger's Story

ST. JOHN - Roger Bourgoin, 89, died peacefully Tuesday, July 14, 2015, with his family by his side at his residence. He was born in St. Francis, October 15, 1925, the son of Emile and Laura (Guimond) Bourgoin.

Roger was a member of the Fort Kent American Legion Martin-Klein Post #0133, D.A.V., Canadian Fish and Game Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Roger loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed sitting on the porch of his cabin with his dog by his side while smoking a cigar. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Rena Mae (Boucher) Bourgoin of St. John; nine children, Robert Bourgoin "Diane" of St. John, Barbara Morneault "Phil" of Tolland, Ct., Michael Bourgoin of St. Francis, Paul Bourgoin of Levant, Me., Bruce Bourgoin of Carmel, Me., Tina Roy "Bryan" of Carmel, Me., Daniel Bourgoin of St. John, Patricia Hurne "Douglas" of East Hampton, Ct., Thomas Bourgoin "Gail" of St. John; 20 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; his brother, Jim "Bugs" Bourgoin of Fort Kent, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents Roger was predeceased by his daughter, Sandra Bourgoin; 2 sisters, Louella "Ki Ki" Fitzherbert and Mary Ellen "Beu" Daigle; 2 brothers, Robert and Barney Bourgoin.

Friends may call Friday, July 17th from 12 noon at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, until time of departure for St. John. A Mass of Christian Burial with full military honors will be celebrated Friday, 2 p.m., at the St. John Catholic Church.
