Roger's Story

STETSON - Roger Rufus Boone, 80, has left this old world to go home to be with his son and parents. Roger was born in Easton, November 29, 1933, a son of Richard and Hope (Higgins) Boone, Sr.

Roger grew up on the family farm on Weston Road in Dover-Foxcroft. He loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours fishing the brooks and hunting the fields and woods of the old farm. He graduated from Foxcroft Academy and worked at P. E. Ward Co. for several years, and later, A. E. Robinson Oil Co. Through these jobs he met many people and made a lot of friends throughout the Dover area. He later worked at Charleston Correctional Center, from which he retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie (Macdonald) Boone, and his daughter, Jessica Faye Boone, both of Stetson; his stepson, Joshua Gellerson of Corinth; and grandson, Bert Boone of Guilford; 2 brothers, Bert Boone and wife, Joeene, Bill Boone and wife, Charlotte of Dover-Foxcroft; 3 sisters, Clarice Sloat Call of East Dover; Joan Hall Zikorus of Pittsfield; and Sheila "Sal" Lyons and husband, Jon of Masardis. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffery Allen Boone, his parents; his brother, Richard Leon Boone, Jr., and sister, Judith Boone Alexa.

Observing Roger's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral. Private graveside services will be held at a later time. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written condolences at www.CrosbyNeal.com
