BROWNVILLE - Roberta "Pippi" (Dean) Lewis, 96, died peacefully June 20, 2015 in Dover-Foxcroft. She was born March 2, 1919, in Brownville, a daughter of Walter and Mabel (Stubbs) Dean.
Roberta was educated in Maine and Michigan. In 1942, she married Liston F. Lewis. They lived in Milo, Bangor, and Brownville. Roberta was a longtime Bangor and Aroostook Railroad clerk. For some years, when dispatching pickup and delivery vehicles, she was, for many, the personable and cheerful voice of the B&A.
Roberta's interests were remarkably broad and her Bible reading was extensive. She cared deeply for family and home.
In addition to her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Liston; infant daughter, Linda; son, Gary; and sisters Vesta, Marjory, and Doris. Roberta is survived by her son, Alan of Brattleboro, VT; granddaughter, Shari of Florida; grandsons, Stephen of Brattleboro, VT, Christopher of Brooklyn, NY, and their mother, Christine of Brattleboro, VT. Many thanks to Tanya Bennett and the caring staff of the Hibbard Skilled Nursing Center; niece, Sandra Genthner who was always there for Liston and Roberta; and nephew, Larry Morrill and his wife, Donna, who willingly shared their time helping in all ways.
A memorial service will be held, for both Liston and Roberta, at Milo's Evergreen Cemetery, Friday, July 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. Memorial gifts in Roberta's memory may be made to Danforth Baptist Church, P.O. Box 88, Danforth, ME 04424, or Hibbard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 1037 West Main Street, Dover-Foxcroft ME 04426.
