Roberta's Story

FORT KENT - Roberta Ann Levesque, otherwise known as "Ann", devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at St. Joseph's Nursing Home in Frenchville, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.

"Ann" was a dedicated teacher in SAD #27 for 31 years, in adult education, first grade, fifth grade and finally ended her career as a 7th and 8th grade French teacher. She always put her students and their learning as her top priority, and was well respected as both a colleague and friend by the many faculty and staff she worked alongside for many years. Her monthly "retired teacher" gatherings and lunches were something she looked forward to for the camaraderie, friendship and time to catch up with old friends. Her favorite student of all time was her mother, Bedette Perreault, who had enrolled in one of Ann's adult education classes to see what she could possibly learn.

Ann was a longtime member of Les Chanteurs Acadien, a French Acadian singing group, and took a tremendous amount of pride in passing along the Franco-American traditional songs to the St. John Valley, the State of Maine, and beyond.

Ann loved to take her yearly trips to Quebec City and frequented the Old City with her wonderful and devoted husband and traveling companion, Bert. In May of 2010, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of traveling to Paris, France for a week, spending time at the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre museum, Monet's Garden, Notre Dame Cathedral, the L'Arc de Triomphe, and enjoying the French cuisine she loved.

Ann will be missed by her entire family and circle of friends. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 29 years, Bert Levesque; her daughters, Margo Joler (Brad DiCarlo) of Bangor, ME, Neile Nelson (Matthew) of Gorham, ME; step-children Dr. Carrie Levesque (Tedd Walther) of Bergen, Norway, Justin Levesque of Crestview, Florida, and Lucas Levesque (Amy) of Fort Kent.;her sister, Linda Pelletier of Cross Lake, brothers Donald Perreault (Evelyn) of Fort Kent, Charles "Ricky" Perreault (Marcella) of Fort Kent, and Bert Perreault (Gene) of St. Francis; and the apples of her eye, her grandchildren Dustin and Jack Guerrette of St. Agatha, Kelly and Shannon DiCarlo of Bangor, Thomas and Anna Nelson of Gorham, Abby and Sophia Levesque of Fort Kent, Genna and Ellie Walther of Bergen, Norway, and Devin Levesque of Crestview, Florida. Ann was predeceased by her mother, Juliet "Bedette" Perreault, father Roland Perreault, grandson Dylan Levesque, brother Gerald Perreault, and brother-in-law Gary Pelletier.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Joseph's Nursing Home for the loving care they provided Ann.

Friends and family may call from 6-8 pm on Monday, December 15 at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent, and at 8 am until the time of service on Tuesday, December 16.
