Robert's Story

BANGOR AND JONESPORT - Robert Royce Wheeler, 64, passed away peacefully at Jonesport, on November 4, 2015, after a courageous ten year battle with cancer.

Born in Bangor, October 30, 1951, he was the beloved son of Royce Greene Wheeler

and Joyce (Tasker) Wheeler.

He was baptized by the Hermon Baptist Church and attended services, Sunday School and Baptist Youth Fellowship.

Rob belonged to St. Andrews Lodge #83, A.F. & A.M, of Bangor and served his masonic brothers as a chef and in the office of Musician.



Rob was employed by Bangor Public Library, Sears Roebuck, Maine Central Railroad and Sam's Club-Bangor retiring in 2013 due to his illness. He also owned and operated Bangor Hot Tub and Swimming Pool Service & Supply, and sponsored a softball team during that time.

He is survived by his loving parents of Bangor; his devoted partner of twenty-seven years, Harlan K.L. Samuelson of Jonesport; sister Kathryn Blanchard of Bangor; brother Ernest D. Wheeler II and significant other Linda George of Hermon; niece Julie and husband, Paul Dow, and their son, Shayne Dow, of Old Town. He is also survived by Harlan's sister, Esther and husband, Michael Savar of Windmoor, PA and their family, and brother Clyde of Jonesport.

Rob's family wishes to offer heartfelt thanks to Harlan for his wonderful care of Rob during the final weeks of his life. Also, special thanks to all Downeast Hospice volunteers who also assisted.

A Committal Service will be held during the summer of 2016 at Greenwood Cemetery

in Jonesport. A notice of date and time will be published in the Bangor Daily News.
