CHARLESTON - Robert Richard Spurr, 82, passed away June 9, 2014 at a Bangor hospital, with his family by his side. He was born June 8, 1932 in Rochester, VT; the son of Alden and Burnerdette Spurr.
He attended high school in Ludlow, VT, and then went on to serve in the Navy from 1951-1959. He worked as a machinist until his retirement and then owned greenhouses until his illness. He loved to travel, go camping, crafts, reading, and his favorite music to listen to was Big Band Music.
He married Linda Buck Butler, April 1972. Robert leaves behind three sons, Robert Steven "Butch" of Fern Park, FL, Michael and his wife, Carla of Newton, MA, Patrick and his wife, Jill of Charleston; daughters, Nancy Kennedy of Enfield, NH and Brenda and her husband, Paul of Ludlow. Robert was adored by his 8 grandchildren and his 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Alden (Russ) Spurr and his wife, Barbara of Cavendish, VT and Lawrence Spurr and his wife, Lorrie of Sebring, FL; also several nieces and nephews. Robert is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Arlene Parker.
A private ceremony of Robert's life will be held at a later date.
