Robert's Story

WINTERVILLE AND EAGLE LAKE - Robert F. "Bob" Sifton, 67, died March 17, 2015, surrounded by family at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Bangor. He was born January 9, 1948, in North Adams, Mass., the son of Floyd and Marie (Ouellette) Sifton.

Bob worked 35 years as a line man for Verizon in Mass. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of SAM, "Sportsman Alliance of Maine," and also the Adam's Outdoorsmen for Youth in Mass. After retiring, Bob fulfilled his lifelong dream of returning to Maine. where he moved with his family and built his log cabin home on Lake St. Froid, where he lived for the past 11 years.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Leona (Gibeau) Sifton of Winterville; three sons, Robert of Winterville, Richard of North Adams, Mass., and Ronald of Winterville; one sister, Frances Cyr of North Adams, Mass.; his yellow lab and constant companion, "Hank"; and his friends and lifelong hunting and fishing companions, Kurt Herrmann, Frank Vahle, Danny Pelletier and Roger Airgoni. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Friends may call Friday, March 20, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Spring burial will be held in the parish cemetery. Those who wish may donate in Bob's memory to the ASPCA, American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, attn: Gift Processing Center, P.O.
