Robert's Story

BOLTON, CT. AND PRESQUE ISLE - Robert E. Roix, 88, went home to be with the Lord on November 30, 2014 after a long illness. He was born November 6, 1926 in Presque Isle, the son of Delbert Everett and Ethel Walker Roix.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Presque Isle until July 2012, when he and his wife, Dolores sold their home and moved to Bolton, CT. to be with their daughter Torrie and family. Having them close has been a blessing to the family.

Bob attended Presque Isle schools. He went into the US Army in February 1945, serving in the United States, the Philippines and South Korea. Upon returning from the service he was employed by Byron Hartford, R. W. Wight and Son, and the US Postal Service until retiring in 1984. Before and after retirement, Bob and Dolores enjoyed many activities together among them bridge, square dancing, boating, members of the snowmobiling club, golfing, and seeing their children and grand children more as they travelled the country in their RV. Bob was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church where he served the Lord as a Sunday School bus driver many years ago. He served as a deacon and as a member of the Prudential Committee. He loved visitation to the elderly until his health no longer permitted it.

He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 65 years, Dolores Scott Roix, a daughter Torrie Fox and husband Duane of Bolton, Ct., a son Scott Roix and wife Patty of Colorado, 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Ralph and sister, Robertine.

In honor of his wishes there was no funeral. There will be a graveside service in Presque Isle in early summer for family and friends. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncangraves.com
