HOWLAND - Robert "Bob" Walter Pelkey Sr. passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at his home with his loving wife of 36 years by his side. He was born on June 29th, 1941 at Fort Fairfield Community Hospital to Walter Sherman and Mary Louise Brayson Pelkey.

He attended Fort Fairfield High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in UiJom Bu Korea, Wertheim Germany, Fort Devons, Mass., and Bangor ME. He married the love of his life, Joan Ella Harper on Feb. 25, 1978. He was a lifetime member of Fort Fairfield VFW, Member of the Fort Fairfield Fire Department and a member of the Brewer Eagles Club. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, playing cards and dancing. The most important thing in his life were his wife and family.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, his brother, Richard Pelkey, his sister, Sheila Pelkey, four brothers-in-law, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Louise and Earl Harper. He is survived by his wife, Joan and his children, Tammy Bryant and husband, Tommy of Anderson AL, Tina Davis of Rogersville AL, Misty Mills and husband, Trevor of Bangor ME, Robert Pelkey Jr and wife, Shanna of Fairbanks AK, and Kenneth Pelkey of Howland, a special granddaughter, Annika Pelkey and six additional grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, sisters, Barbara Lagasse, Sally Hanson and husband, Louis, brother, Franklin Pelkey and wife, Margaret, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Angelia Fowler officiating. Interment with full military honors will be at Howland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Lafayette Center, Cancer care of Maine.
