Robert's Story

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Robert Olszewski, 73, passed away March 10, 2015, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. The beloved son of Claire Bowie Olsewski, Bob was born May 8, 1941, in Mt. Vernon, NY.

Before moving to Maine he lived and went to school in Manhattan, NY, where he was proud to attend the Boat Building program at the Metropolitan Vocational School.

Bob and his family moved to Connecticut where he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Military Police, stationed at Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

After his discharge from the Army he married Florence Cochrane, his wife of 52 years. Bob moved his family to Maine in 1970, from Bridgeport, CT. He worked at Sullivan Ford in Bangor where he was known as a top transmission mechanic. Later on he worked for Hyster Forklifts as an industrial mechanic, serving the central area of the state.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Claire and John Olszewski. Surviving are his two sisters, Gloria DiStassion of Monroe, CT, and Barbara Olszewski of Stratford, CT; his three children, Kim and Eric Evans of DeBary, FL, Robert Olszewski, Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft, Jacki and Kenny Churchill of Chugiak, AK; and two grandsons, Eric Evans II and Kenny Churchill IV.
