Robert's Story

FREEDOM - Robert "Bob" Cyrille Letourneau, 65, of Freedom, passed away suddenly at his home on Tuesday evening, May 3, 2016. He was born in Waterville, Maine on March 29, 1951, the son of Joseph C. and Margaret (Roy) Letourneau.

Bob grew up helping his father and brothers work in the woods and after attending Mt. View High School he went to work for Harold "Had" Hotham of Hotham Potato Farm in Freedom. He worked there for many years and developed many strong friendships along the way. He was a jack of all trades and a real asset on the farm as there didn't seem to be a piece of machinery that he could not fix. Later he went to work as a diesel mechanic for Richard Hodges, Inc. of Unity. Many remember his creativity, skill and talent for repairing things. In 1970 he married Ellen Ladd and they had a daughter, Renee. In 1994 he married Dao Nguyen. Bob was a man that never sat idle. In his earlier years he loved hunting and snowmobiling. In his later years he became an avid gardener, loved fishing and also took up woodworking. He especially enjoyed making dollhouses and dollhouse furniture. He was a man of many talents and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dao Letourneau of Freedom; daughter, Renee Kitchen and her husband Donald of Northport; two granddaughters, Quinlan and Greta Kitchen of Northport; brothers, Wilfred "Willy" of Madison, Leonel "Petty" of North Carolina, David, Mark and Peter Letourneau of Freedom; sister in law, Thuy Nguyen of Indiana; step-niece, Chausa Tra of Searsport; stepdaughters, LeeAnn Mullens of Oakland & Michelle Plummer of Chelsea; and several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his sister, Bernadette "Bunny" Irish.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 12th at 1pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Freedom, ME. All are welcome to attend. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast. Memories and condolences may be offered to the family at www.ripostafh.com.
