East Millinocket - Robert Scott Lawrence Cousins, 45, has joined the angels in heaven on the Sabbath, June 18, 2017.
Robert was the son of Leon A. and Lilia "Betty" (Bernal) Cousins. He was born on November 24, 1971, as the seventh child out of nine children. Robert was born with severe cerebral palsy and blindness. However, determination and love of life truly surpassed all doctor's expectations. He was given love and strength from his parents who were his primary caregivers for over forty years. He also received additional care from his brothers Lee and Karl after the passing of their father. Robert gave and received love from all of his siblings by his presence and fortitude. They drew from his strength that anything is possible. His presence in the family was the bond of unconditional love and commitment.
Robert is dearly loved and survived by his mother, Lilia "Betty" Cousins; eight siblings; Marlene Higgins and her children, David, Carolyn, and Lily; Marie-Elena and Mark Brown and their children, George, Elena, and Erik; Edna and Steve North and their children, Adara and Michael; Lee Cousins; Karl Cousins and his daughter, Vanessa; Eddie and Jen Cousins and their children, Ariana and Alex; Anna-Lisa Cousins and Loren Bailey and their children, Andrew and Carson; William and Jenn Cousins and their daughter, Mariella, as well as Cheryl, and children, Caitlyn and Dylan. He is also survived by Aunt Peg Cousins, Aunt Priscilla and Uncle Chet Nutting, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Leon A. Cousins, both maternal and paternal grandparents, Aunt Rosemary (Cousins) Thombs, and his brother in law, Tom Higgins.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Monday, June 26, at the First Congregational Church, 11 Maple Street, East Millinocket, with a time of visitation beginning at 1 p.m. and the service beginning at 2 p.m. Interment will follow the service at the East Millinocket Cemetery.
