VIRGINIA BEACH - Robert Leon Campbell, 88, of the 3500 block of Royal Palm Arch, died December 16, 2014 in his home. Robert was born in Bangor, Maine, the son of the late Verna Flagg Campbell and Aubrey Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was predeceased by a son, Mark, two brothers and a sister. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Charity Louise Messer Campbell, two sons; Michael and Matthew Campbell, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Robert lived a full active life, starting when he joined the 1st Marine Division Pacific Campaign in January 1942, he was discharged in 1945 with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He later joined the Air Force in 1947 and retired in 1973 with total service of 28 years.
A funeral service with Masonic Rites was conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 20th, 2014 at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Laskin Road Chapel by the Reverend Michelle Louk. Burial was at Princess Anne Memorial Park in Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Home of Virginia, 4101 Nine Mile Road, Richmond, Virginia 23223.
