Text size

Bucksport - Robert F. Brawn, 94, born November 16, 1922 in Milford, passed away September 11, 2017. His family later moved to Bingham where his father helped build the Wyman Dam. Eventually, they moved to Bucksport, where his father was involved in the construction of the paper mill.
In 1941, Robert graduated from Bucksport High School. He then served in the Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945 as Chief Motor Machinist's Mate. Additionally, he served as his ship's barber.
On June 20, 1945, he married his childhood friend, Vivian Chatto. They made their home in Bucksport, raising two daughters. He worked at the paper mill in Bucksport for 43 years before retiring.
He was a long-time member of the Belfast Church Of The Nazarene, which he helped construct, holding many positions during the course of his membership.
Robert was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. His beloved wife, Vivian, passed away in 2011 and his daughter, Vicki Lewin passed away in 2016. He is survived by his daughter Deborah Blake and her husband, Russell, of Searsport; his son-in-law Dennis Lewin, of Orland, Maine, and Wellington, Florida; three grandchildren, Cassidy Tewey and her husband, Patrick, of Mahopac, New York, Dj Lewin of Miami, Florida, and Tracy Colby and her husband, Jedidiah, of Searsport; three great-grandchildren, Casey Tewey, Riley Colby and Elise Colby.
At Robert's request, there will be no services. However, as he very much enjoyed going out for breakfast, there will be a breakfast buffet Fellowship Gathering at the Searsport home of his daughter, Deborah, on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12 noon for family and friends to celebrate a wonderful man's life. Bob's family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Tall Pines Nursing Home in Belfast for their excellent care during his final days. Interment will be at the family lot in Stillwater. In lieu of flowers, Robert's wishes were that donations be made to the Belfast Church Of The Nazarene, 95 Swan Lake Avenue, Belfast, ME 04915.
