- Robert J. Boutot, 71, entered into eternal rest Monday, February 13, 2017, at his home following a long illness with his loving family at his side. He was born May 29, 1945, in Portage, a son of the late Zenon and Retna (Chagnon) Boutot Sr.
Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years for Pinkham Lumber and the Irving Sawmill, Nashville. He served in the Maine National Guard for several years and was a member of the American Legion, Eagle Lake. A parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church, he was also a long-time 3rd Degree member of the Knight of Columbus. Bob loved to entertain his family and friends playing banjo, mandolin and guitar. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially gazing up at the star-studded sky. He truly enjoyed spotting wildlife, and most times he was able to approach and feed deer in his yard or a fox family at the mill.
He is survived by: his loving wife of over 48 years, Lou Sandy (Jandreau) Boutot of Portage Lake; two sons, Timothy Boutot of Ashland and Curt Boutot and his wife Diana of Nashville Plt.; three siblings, Dolores Boutot of New York, Zenon Boutot Jr. of Eagle Lake, and Ronald Boutot of Portage Lake; special in-laws, Gerard and Ida Charette Sr. and Elizabeth Albert; four step-grandchildren; and several brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 19 Aroostook Road., Portage Lake. Relatives and friends may greet the family Thursday 6-9:00 p.m. and Friday 9-10:45 a.m. at the church. Spring interment will be in Portage Lake Municipal Cemetery.
