WINTERPORT - Robert F. Arris who was born on November 20,1933, passed away on January 21, 2016, at a local Bangor hospital after a short illness. Bob, as he preferred to be called, grew up in the area around Madison. He went on to work at the paper mill in Madison and at the shoe shop in Skowhegan. He had recently retired from his position at the Howard Johnson in Bangor. Bob had been a resident of Winterport for over 20 years. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed being out in the woods of Maine and fishing on its many lakes and streams.
Bob is survived by his wife Helen; sisters Sheila Nelson and family of Anson, Lorraine Nelson and family of Skowhegan, Sharon Bradley and family of Carlyle, Pennsylvania; son Robert Arris, Jr of Skowhegan; daughter Holly Smith of Anson; step-sons Micheal Sherburne of Lisbon Falls and Kim Sherburne of Milford; step-daughter Donna Avery of Athens and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held in the spring. Contributions can be made in Robert's name to the Maine's Youth Fish and Game Association, P.O.Box 337, Stillwater, Maine 04489.
