Eagle Lake and Fort Kent - Rita (Smart) Bouchard, 64, passed away June 6, 2017 with family by her side at a Fort Kent Health Care Facility. She was born in Wallagrass on July 9, 1952, the daughter of Cyrille and Theresa (Saucier) Smart.
Rita worked as a volunteer for Hospice of Aroostook for over 20 years and also with the Mercy Home Activities department for over 15 years. She loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by three children; Corey and his wife Mary Ann Bouchard of Winterville, Tina Bouchard of Fort Kent, Brian and his wife Carrie Bouchard of Winterville, six grandchildren; Andrew and Jonathan Chasse, Mackayla, Alex, Toby, and Connor Bouchard, one great-grandson Zander Valcourt and two extended grandchildren; Kassie Nadeau and Abby Plourde. Seven brothers; Clifford Smart of Fort Kent, Michael Smart of Fl., Norman Smart of Bristol, Ct., Glenn Smart of Wallagrass, Daniel Smart of Machias, Raymond Smart of Mars Hill, Steven Smart of Fort Kent. Four sisters; Brenda Berube of St. Francois, N.B., Norma Long of Eagle Lake, Verna Marquis of Eagle Lake, Betty Smart of Wallagrass and also by several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Tommy Smart and one grandson, Matthew Bouchard.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday June 11, 2017, and Monday 9 to 10:15 a.m. at the Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery. In following with Rita's wishes, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses, c/o Tina Bouchard, 611 W. Main St., Fort Kent, ME 04743.
