MADAWASKA - Rita Belanger, 88, passed away on November 1, 2015 at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in Fort Kent on September 24, 1927, daughter of the late Claude and Laura (Vaillancourt) Ouellette.
Rita worked as a secretary for the engineering department for forty one years at Fraser Paper. She was a hard worker and very easy going, which made her loved by all who knew her. During this time, she met and married the love of her life, Elroy "Bee" Belanger. They met at the Webber House in Van Buren. Their first dance was to, "Could I have this dance for the rest of my life." Elroy claims they've been dancing ever since. Rita loved to travel which they did a lot of between bus tours and cruises with many friends. She had two special pets, Snowball the cat and Chico the dog...both were spoiled rotten.
Rita is survived by her beloved husband of sixty years, Elroy "Bee" Belanger of Madawaska; a sister-in-law, Joyce Cyr and her husband Gerard of Van Buren; three God-Children, Dan Deschaine and his wife Lori of Westfield, Ann Piascik of Van Buren, Kyle Morrill of Presque-Isle; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her sister, Anita, brothers-in-law, Yvon Pelletier and Everett Belanger.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ridgewood Estates for the great care that was given to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.
