Richard's Story

BUCKSPORT - Richard G. Stubbs, 76, died on July 31, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 3, 1939 the son of Harry C. and Clara E. (Mercer) Stubbs.

Richard attended Bucksport Schools where he was very athletic playing football, basketball, baseball and golf. He graduated class of 1957.

He was a veteran of the US Army, was a lifetime member of the Bucksmills Rod and Gun Club, American Legion Post 93, member of the Bucksport Fire Department. He loved to hunt and fish. He worked and retired from the Bucksport Paper Mill after 40 years of service where he was a member of the 1188 Union.

Richard loved spending time in his truck; his truck was his one true love. He would always be found at the town dock in the mornings for his coffee and chats with his friends.

He is survived by his sisters; Joanne Grover and Judy Harriman both of Orrington, Bonnie MacBrayne and husband Jack of Orland, one brother; William Stubbs and wife Nancy of Bucksport, many nieces, nephews and cousins. A very special friend Leo Grunwald, and many other friends too numerous to mention at the dock. He was predeceased in addition to his parent's one sister Marlene Jane Stubbs and one brother Henry Thomas Stubbs.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 3-4pm until time of service at 4:00pm on Saturday August 8, 2015 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home 28 Elm Street Bucksport with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. A gathering will be held after the service at the home of his nephew Robert Stubbs 504 Bucksmills Road Bucksport.
