WINTER HAVEN, FLA. AND FRANKFORT - Richard Lester Smart, from Winter Haven, Florida, began his final adventure on Aug 16, 2015. Richard was born on July 1, 1935, in Frankfort, Maine, the son of Edith and Earl, and brother to Ralph, Irene, Caddy, Sue, Rachel and Ruth.
Richard was a man of many talents: gifted carpenter and woodworker, gardener and he could play a mean harmonica. He was a generous soul, always willing to help anyone in need. He loved to travel and spend time with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Monika; five children, Barbara, Karen, Debora, Christopher and Jeanette; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his first wife and lifelong friend, Sarah. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter, Bethann; siblings, Ralph and Irene; his second wife, Barbara and many cherished friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday from 1-4pm at the family camp on Swan Lake, 9 Loon Lane, in Frankfort. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Habitat for Humanities.
