Richard's Story

MILFORD and GLENBURN - Richard "Rick" McLaughlin, 66, passed away on Oct. 2, 2014, due to several years of declining health. Rick was born in Bangor on July 16, 1948.

He graduated from Old Town High School in 1968. He married his first wife, Doreen Bouchard, and had three children together. He later married Beatrice McLaughlin, of 30 years. Rick worked in local Old Town paper mills following graduation until retiring in the summer of 2013 from Old Town Fuel and Fiber Mill.

Rick is survived by his children, Alan McLaughlin and close friend, Heather Richards, Kelly Harris and significant other, Mike Walker, and Heidi McLaughlin and significant other, Dan Engstrom; his wife, Beatrice McLaughlin; stepchildren, Paige, Skip, Lisa and Paula; several stepgrandchildren; biological grandchildren, Alisha Harris and Dustin Wasson; and great-grandchildren, Landon Richard Robinson and Brooklyn Skye Trimm, joining us in November. He is survived by brothers, Floyd McLaughlin and wife, Charlene, and Gary McLaughlin; and sisters, Brenda Smith and husband, Tom, and Pam McLaughlin; along with several nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Floyd "Bill" McLaughlin and Goldie (Cropley) McLaughlin; and sisters, Marlene White and Deanna Carr.

Per Richard's wish, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the American Heart Association of Maine and the Diabetes Association.
