LINCOLN - Richard H. Leavitt, 90, husband of Roberta (Jenkins) Leavitt, passed away Feb. 27, 2016 at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Jan. 21, 1926 in Lincoln, the son of Richard E. and Rose (Murchison) Leavitt.
Richard was a US Navy veteran of World War II where he served as a Gunners Mate on a Liberty Ship. He received the bronze star as well as several other medals.
In addition to his wife of 68 years, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy Leavitt Pelletier and her husband, Michael; siblings, Melvin, Norman and Wanda Leavitt; a brother-in-law, Ronald Jenkins and his wife, Joneena; three grandchildren, and a great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Hazel Leavitt Thompson and Wilma Leavitt Sullivan.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Condolences may be expressed at
