ORRINGTON - Richard Russell Harriman, 75, beloved husband of Carrie Harriman (Anderson), passed away on June 25, 2014, in Orrington. He was born April 3, 1939, in Bangor, the son of Russell Bray and Lorraine (Randall) Harriman.

He went to Bangor High for 2 years. He then attended and graduated from Higgins Classical Institute in 1957. Dick worked for the town of Orrington for 20 years in a job he loved. He enjoyed helping people as Code Enforcement Officer, Tax Assessor and Licensed Plumbing Inspector. He used to laugh and say not many people would want to do all his jobs, but he did them so well. He helped many people over the years he was with the town. He also worked for Brake Service as parts manager, he ran a publishing company, was a courier, and owned a restaurant and ice cream shop in Belfast. He had many adventures in his life and he could tell you many stories about each and every one of his professions. His girls loved to hear all the tales. He loved history and having conversations with our Pastor. They would talk about the history of religion and the town of Orrington. We will miss his laugh, his hugs, his stories, and sense of humor but most of all we will miss his huge and wonderful presence. We have been blessed to know him and love him and have him love us back.

Dick is survived by his beloved and caring wife of 26 years, Carrie A. Harriman; his daughter, Theresa Harriman and her husband, Michael Caccavale, and his grandsons, Ben and Sam, who he knows will be amazing in whatever they choose to do; his daughter, Morgan Harriman King and her husband, Ed, stepchildren, Max and Tia, and their dog, Willy; his daughter, Jennifer Harriman Rogers and Chris Doane, his newest grandson, Joshua Richard (boy), who he knows will be full of life; his very special granddaughter, Madison (Maddie), who he is so very proud of; his sister, Betty Larson; and many special nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Lorraine Randall Harriman; father, Russell B. Harriman; and brother-in-law, Ernest (Bud) Larson.

A celebration of life will be held at East Orrington Congregational Church, 11 a.m. July 1 followed by reception downstairs. A private graveside service will be held later. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in the Harriman family name to East Orrington Congregational Church, 38 Johnson Mill Rd., Orrington, ME 04474 and New Hope Hospice, P.O.
