Rex's Story

. - Rex McBreairty passed away January 13 at Forest Hill Manor after a brief decline with health issues. He was born on November 13, 1922, the son of Vincent McBreairty and Mina (Hughes) McBreairty. He was predeceased by wife Laura (Jones) McBreairty and grandson Evan McBreairty. Rex served in the Army during World War II in the 80th Infantry Division - 3rd Army as a combat medic. Upon discharge, he returned home to do various jobs - woods work, construction, etc. He eventually became employed by the Department of Conservation for 25 years performing field work for the entomology department. Rex was a life time member of the American Legion and VFW. Rex had a great passion for the Allagash and it's rivers and could be often found in a canoe with his dog and when not outside he could be found drinking tea and reading the newspaper.

Rex is survived by his daughter, Barbara McBreairty of Allagash; sons Rex Allan McBreairty and wife Susan of Allagash and Wayne McBreairty of Allagash. Also his granddaughter, Tammy (McBreairty) Delisle and husband Travis and 3 great grandsons Caleb, Austin, and Owen of Wallagrass. Also survived by a brother, Vincent McBreairty of Island Falls, Me and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 11 am Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Allagash Baptist Church, Spring burial will be held in the St. Paul's congregational Cemetery, St. Francis.
