- Renate Giles, 81, passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2017, at East Side Healthcare in Bangor. She was born on Nov. 10, 1935, in Schweinfurt, Germany, to Hans Heinrich Uselmann und Helene Uselmann.
Renate and her son, Bill, cam to the U.S. in April 1964, and received her citizenship on Dec. 17, 1973, which she was very proud of.
Renate was predeceased by her parents; and a sister, Inga. She is survived by her husband, Frank, of 53 years; and son, Bill Hale and his wife, Margarita, of Searsport. Renate also leaves behind sisters-in-law, Jessie of Newburgh and Helen of Bangor; brothers-in-law, Lewis Giles Jr. of Hampden, Joe Allbritton of West Monroe, La., Bob Veinote of Newburgh, Ralph Cobb of Hampden and Lucky LaChance of St. Albans.
Renate loved spending lots of time at Wilson Pond Camps in Greenville; and with their owners, Bob and Martine Young. Renate had one other love - getting her hair done weekly at D'Lor Beauty Salon in Bangor with stylists Treasa and Treasa, and thanks also to Bette. Renate also thanks her physical therapist of many years, Sonja Parker; I thank you too Sonja. We the family would like to thank Beacon Hospice's workers - they worked hard and overly hard for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
