BROWNVILLE AND DOVER-FOXCROFT - Regina M. Blodgett, 85, beloved wife of Richard E. Blodgett, Jr., passed away November 2, 2014, at Mayo Regional Hospital. She was born January 9, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of John A. and Dorothy E. (Miles) Marsh.
Jean and her husband of 67 years, Ed, made their home and raised their family in Dover-Foxcroft before moving to Brownville. In Dover-Foxcroft she was a member of several community organizations, including the Molasto Club. For several years she worked as the Activity Director at Hibbard Nursing Home. After moving to Brownville she joined the local Garden Club and Extension Group.
Jean was a published poet and a member of the Maine Poet's Society. She was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed golfing, sewing, reading and playing bridge. She and Ed won the Duplicate Bridge Tournament in Dover-Foxcroft for several years. She loved gardening and was so proud that she had saved seeds every year from her father's beans, to be planted the following year. Now seeds from those same beans are planted by her granddaughter.
Her favorite place on earth was the family camp at Sebec Lake. She spent every summer there...85 of them! There was no place she would rather be.
Jean's family is very grateful for the care and support given by the medical staff at Mayo Regional Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Richard E. of Brownville; two daughters, Linda B. Graham and her husband, Keith, of Clinton, and Karen B. Baker and her husband, Garry, of West Gardiner; a son, Rodney B. Blodgett of Waterville; seven grandchildren, Travis Baker of Windham, Erin Baker of West Gardiner, Joseph Graham of Argyle, Benjamin Graham of Miami, FL, Jonathan Graham of Waterville, Richard Blodgett of Gainesville, TX, and Erica Blodgett of Corpus Christi, TX; and seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Sam and Elizabeth Baker, and Jackson, Owen, Augustus, and Penelope Graham. She was predeceased by a brother, John "Jack" Marsh.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Brownville Community Church, with Rev. Ann Purdy officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brownville Community Church, PO Box 706, Brownville 04414. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
