Real's Story

FORT KENT - Real Blanchette, 80, passed away on January 21, 2016, at a Fort Kent health care facility.  He was born in Fort Kent on July 14, 1935, son of the late Archille and Emma (Berube) Blanchette.

Real was a member and past commander of the American Legion in Fort Kent, Post 133, a member of Fort Kent Boys Scouts, Troop 189. He was a well-known maintenance man at Crosswinds and Ridgewood Estates. He enjoyed his side business of upholstery, which started out as a hobby.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Blanche (Dubois) Blanchette of Fort Kent; one daughter, Nola Shorey and her husband, Bill, of Fort Kent; one son, Andrew Blanchette and his wife, Susan, of Madawaska; four grandchildren, Brandon Plourde of Fort Kent, Hannah and Hailey Blanchette of Madawaska and Alyssa Shorey of Dixmont; two sisters, Rose Marie Pelletier and her husband, Albert, of Fort Kent and Joanne Montana and her husband, Larry, of California; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters and four brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016, at the St. Louis Church in Fort Kent.  Family and friends may call at Daigle Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday. Contributions in Reals' memory may be made to Edgar J.
