Raynold's Story

FORT KENT - Raynold Theriault Sr., died June 5, 2015.

He was born in Fort Kent, May 12, 1936, the son of Romeo and Adrienne (Babin) Theriault. He is survived by his wife Cecile (Raymond) Theriault, five children ~ Pauline Charette and husband, Robert, Louise Harvey and husband, Gary, Eva Bard and husband, Roland Jr., Raynold Jr., and Sharon Chasse and husband Carl. Thirteen (13) grand-children, Leo James (JJ) and Jeremy Dugal, Michele Michaud, Danielle Thibodeau and Matthew Harvey, Victoria Bard Tran and Christopher Bard, Laura McElhinney-Wilkinson, Lucas and Alex Theriault, and Nicole, Sam, and Ryan Chasse. Twelve (12) Great grandchildren ~ Brianna, Trevor, Loran Rose, Reid Dugal, Olivia, Sophia and Gabe Michaud, Hailey Theriault, Logan and Ethan Thibodeau, Kent and Hazel Tran.

He graduated from the Madawaska Training School (presently UMFK) where he majored in education and earned a bachelor degree in business management from Ricker College. He graduated from Maine Military Academy plus attended a number of military schools including the US Army Command and General Staff College in Leavenworth Kansas.

He held several elected positions including SAD 27 School Board of Directors, the Fort Kent Town Council, and six years in the Maine House of Representatives where he served on various committees including Chair of Transportation. Additionally, he served six years in the Maine Senate and also served as chair of both the Transportation and the Banking and Insurance committees.

He taught in the local school system for two years, was a Customs Inspector for twelve years, taught mathematics and business management for four years in the continuing education department for Richer College.

Lt. Colonel Theriault was a member of twenty-eight years of the 152nd Field Artillery Battalion Maine Army National Guard where he served in various capacities including Battalion Commander.

He is also survived by four sisters: Viola Pelletier, Laurette Brown, Marilyn Ventura, and Rita Theriault (Cox), five brothers, Carroll, Franklin, Donald, Lloyd, and David, one aunt, Cora Caron and one uncle, Ernest Theriault, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 8:30 a.m., Thursday, June 11th until time of service at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial with military and fourth degree honors will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent.
