Raymond's Story

Swanville - Raymond John Ingles passed away October 13, 2016, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born in Northport, Maine, on March 27, 1927, the son of Mervin Ingles and Clarissa (Webb) Ingles.
He was a local longshoreman and independent woods contractor. On November 17, 1945, he married Helen Friss of Hudson, New York. Together they lived many years on Cedar Street in Belfast before self-building in the late 1970s a home on Swan Lake. Raymond was known for his strong opinions and independent ways.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Anne (Willette) Ingles of Bangor; his grandson, Matthew Ingles and wife, Martha (Hurlbert) Ingles, of East Rochester, N.H.; his granddaughter, Laura E. Ingles of Bangor; as well as nephews, Arthur Abbot and wife, Joanne, of Belfast, Raymond Abbott and wife, Pam, of Pasadena, Maryland, and Richard Finkle of Hudson, NY. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Helen; and sisters, Caroline Ingles Abbott and Rita Ingles Finkle.
Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on October 26 at Smart Cemetery. A gathering will be held following the service at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast.
