FORT FAIRFIELD AND LINCOLN - Ray F. Turner, 87, died May 19, 2014 at his home in Lincoln. Ray was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Fort Fairfield, son of the late Walter Ray Turner and Ada Rachel Bellefleur Turner.
He attended Fort Fairfield schools. Ray was a US Army veteran of World War II serving in the infantry in the Philippines and Japan. After discharge, he returned to Fort Fairfield and worked for Ralph Reed & Sons. Ray retired from G. E. Goding & Son in Lincoln. Ray married Doris Argraves, Aug. 14, 1951 and they shared 62 years together.
Surviving are his wife, Doris Turner of Lincoln, brother, Roy W. Turner and June of CT, sisters, Shirley Hitchcock of CT, Phyllis Argraves of TN, Doris Glew and Minard of Fort Fairfield, sisters-in-law, Maxine Argraves Chace and Tom of Florida, Dianna and Ryan McDougal of Hartland, Susan and Daniel Keene of Utah, and Natalie and Steve Austin of TN; brother-in-law, Henry and Nancy Argraves of Maine; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his only son, Brian Turner, who died March 19, 2014.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Scott Taylor officiating.
