Ramona's Story

CHESTER AND HOWLAND - Ramona "Mona" E. (Jordan) Smith died Jan. 24, 2015 at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Chester, January 6, 1929, the ninth child of John T and Edna (Gordon) Jordan. Mona loved her family and was always available to help them in any way she could. In her younger years, she worked as a nurse's aid and later in life she did private care in the Bangor and Lincoln area. Mona loved to cook and

work in her flower gardens in which she took great pride. She could not go by a greenhouse or a garden shop without stopping to at least look. Mona is survived by two sons, Addison W. Smith Sr. and his wife Debbie of Chester and Colin J. Smith and his wife Wanda also of Chester, with whom she made her home until relocating to Cummings Health Care Facility in Howland. She is also survived by two grandsons and their wives, Addison, Jr. "Bunk" and Amy of Sangerville and Albert and Hannah of Enfield; four special great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kameron, Nathan and Noah Smith; many special nieces and nephews including four special nieces, Pauline Whitney and Harland, Leta King and Ken, Joanne Voisine, and Edith Ireland (whom she considered as a daughter) and her husband Temple (who she called "my Temple.")

In addition to her parents, Mona was predeceased by her youngest son, Gordon and all nine of her siblings; Brothers Henry, Raymond, John, Harold, Ralph and

Roland and her sisters, Doris Lancaster, Doreen Smith and Thelma Johnson.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Cummings Health Care for the wonderful care given to their mother while she was a resident there.

At her request, there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held in the spring at the South Chester Cemetery with the Rev. Terry Upcott officiating.
