CUTLER - Ralph D. Maker passed away at his home on June 7, 2014. He was born to Fred Maker, Sr. and Elaine Bryant Maker on July 7, 1933 in Cutler, ME.
Ralph graduated high school from Washington Academy and after high school he and his brother, Dewey, cut and hauled pulp wood. They then both worked from start to finish during the construction phase of the Cutler Naval Base. He then, along with his good friends Tater, Arthur, Dickey and other Cutler buddies, went to Shelton, Conn. and worked construction. He then returned and worked for many local contractors and after that worked carpentry with his close friends at Farris and Porter Construction until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his long-time companion, Beverly Richardson and her children, Paula, Gary and Bobby. He loved his home in Cutler overlooking the harbor and maintaining his lawns and garden. He also loved his special cat, Foggy.
Ralph is survived by his son, Kevin L. Maker and wife, Penny of Marshfield; daughter, Debra J. Hanscom and husband, Donald of Marshfield; former brother-in-law, Joel Weaver of Bucks Harbor; sister-in-law, Norman Maker of Cutler; and grandchildren, Jason A. Trickett, Joseph L. Hanscom and wife, Amanda, and Brooke Clay and husband, Ryan and family.
He is predeceased by his parents, Fred Douglas Maker, Sr. and Elaine Bryant Maker; son, Ralph C Maker; grandson, Joshua C. Hanscom; older brother, Dewey Bryant Maker; and younger sister, Joan Weaver.
A Graveside service will be held on June 20, 2014, at 11:00am at the New Cutler Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Bay Ridge Elementary School gym.
